This book moved me in a way a book hasn't in years. There was something so raw and emotional in witnessing the mental illness of a parent through the eyes of a child, The innocence and intensity of the narrator's relationship with his mother is made all the more heartbreaking as throughout the telling he slowly comes to terms with the fact that as much as she loves him, she cannot always be there for him.
